Project Description:
This project was enjoyable to develop, and I hope to make more systems like this in the future.
I was approached by a client who was after about a bespoke system to track all of the equipment within a building, usually a hospital. The client explained how he wanted the system to work - The members of staff would go around the building scanning barcodes on the appropriate items of equipment and logging any faults they find.
Once the scan was complete, they would then upload the CSV files that the barcode reader generated into the system, which processed the data and stored it in a MySQL database and displayed which items needed servicing.
Once an item had been serviced, they would upload another CSV file containing details on the service, which then marks the appropiate entries in the database as fixed.
The system is built on PHP5 and uses MySQL as a backend, and takes advantage of the CSV processing abilities inside PHP to maximise performance. Due to the system being used in an intranet I am unable to show this system off - although I can provide more details about it if you are interested.
